President’s Message:

The Ohio State Assembly has grown to be the fifth largest state assembly in the nation. Our membership
is approaching 1200. Ours is such a large diverse group and I invite you to get involved with our
association. We need committee members, people to help at conferences, board and delegate members.
You need no experience, we will orient you to the workings of our association. Call or email me. I
welcome the opportunity to discus the possibilities with you.

A good starting point would be involvment with Tech Week September 21-25, 2009. Let your co-workers
and your community know who you are and what you do. Ask your employer to put articles in local
newspapers, television and radio stations, articles in your employer’s newsletter, post exhibits in the
workplace.Use pictures when appropriate. Make a professional statement! Use your imagination, the sky
is the limit.

After you’ve put your exhibit in place or had your article published or whatever form your project has
taken, take pictures of what you have done. Write a brief description an send to our PO box and it will be
forwarded to National so they can see what has been accomplished by the Ohio Assembly members.

The time to start planning is now. Promote Surgical Technology. Be visible, have fun!

Mary Lou Johnson, LPN/CST

President,

The Ohio State Assembly of AST
